“Unveiling the Epic GI Joe Explosion of 2008: A Collector’s Journey Through Iconic Figures and Vehicles!”

Welcome to the Outpost. Today I’m taking a look 2008 as a whole. This was a stellar year. Anybody who enjoyed the 25th style Joe from 2007 better have had their pants strapped on because there was a GI Joe explosion about to happen. Filled with comic packs, DVD battle packs, and filled with the iconic vehicles that helped make GI Joe so popular to begin with. I was able to pick up a great deal this year including all the DVD packs and most of the comic packs. Some of my favorites from the DVD packs are radioactive Snake Eyes, Serpentor, and Alpine. The comic 2 packs sported some of my all time favorite figures with Tomax and Xamot, Ace and Wild Weasel, and Beachhead and Mainframe.
I had not really started collecting Joes up to this point so most of the Joes I never had as a kid I still never had, so this was super exciting to see Joes on the shelves and I fell head first into it. There were so many great vehicles this year such as the Rattler, Conquest, and a really cool modern Vamp. Along with all this came several single carded figures including Barbecue, 1987 style Cobra Commander with a removable helmet, and one of my favorite figures Trip Wire. Rock ‘n Roll was the one I hunted the hardest for. I remember seeing the spring lineup and I spent most of the spring looking for him before he finally showed up in one of several Walmarts in my area.
It was just dumb luck as I was out in the sticks for an event and stopped to get some snacks for the kids. Just for the heck of it I checked the toy isle and bang there he was the lone soldier on the peg, but I’m glad I got him, he is one of the coolest figures from this era. Overall this was an amazing year for Joe fans and they were still priced reasonably enough so dad could get one and their kids could get one too. It was a great time to be a Joe fan and a great time to build new fans for the future. Make sure to check back next week for those crazy hunts for 2009 releases.
